Personal The elder son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Lester met with a painful accident on Thursday, when he f ell and inflicted a severe cut in his tongue. After receiving medical attention he was takeh to the Palmerston North Hospital. He is now progressing favourably. Extension Of Fire Station An energetic working-bee of firemen spent the weekend busily engaged in carrying out the alterations necessary to house the new fire engine in the present station. The back of the building has been extended and thef floor lowered. The brigade must be congratulated on the fine muster of fireman who attended to assist with the work. Successful Street Day . The committee set up recently to raise funds to carry out necessary improvements to the Poutu Maori Pah at Moutoa conducted a shop day in Shannon last Friday and reported that the public of the district had been most generous. The committee extends its sincere thanks to all those who contributed produce and other donations towards ' the day. Competitions were won by Mrs. E. Thorne, Mr. W. Terry, Mrs. K. Hemepo, Miss D. Ropoama, Mr. A. McEwem, Mrs. T. Kokika and Mr. T. S. Downes. The committee held another of its card evenings in Laurvig's Hall on Monday evening, and their was a good attendance of players. Prize winners were Mr. J. Sinclair and Mrs, R. Andrew.
