MAYOR "TAXED" ON HIS HONORARIUM
What did the Mayor's honorarium amount to, asked Mr. D. A. Fitzgeraid, candidate for the Shannon mayoralty, of the retiring Mayor, Mr. R. E. Downes, at a public meeting last night. Mr. Downes : It is £52 a year, of which £26 is tax free. When Walter lets you off with tax there can't be much left. He knows where it's going.
