THREE-ACT COMEDY STAGED
PLAYREADERS' PRESENTATION The Levin Playreaders closed their season last week with a pr.esentation of J. M. Barrie's delightful three-act comedy, "Dear Brutus." Although not publicised as a production, and staged more for the en-tert'ainment of members than the general public, the per- t formance given attained a very good standard and was thoroughly enjoyed by a fairly large audience.' Among the , visitors were members of the Little Theatre Society, Palmerston North, who produced "Dear Brutus" last August. They were very generous in their expressions of appreciation of the presentation given by the Playreaders' cast. At the curtain call given to the players the lady members of the cast each reieived beautiful floral bouquets, the gift of Mrs. Kathleen Black. The president, Mr. G. Sorenson, expressed the thanks of the Playreaders to the performers and all who had helped in the. production, as well as to those who had assisted in the season's activities. He specially mentioned Messrs Kingsway, Ltd., for the generous manner in which they had loaned furnishings. Those taking part in the presentation were Mesdames E. Hunt, G. Wilkinson, A. A. Savell N. Thornley and A. Hercus, Misses J. Cockreil and M. Pescini, and Messrs N. A. Byrne, A. A. Savell, A Hercus and H. Baumber. Those behind the scenes were Mrs. J. Black (stage manager) , Miss R. Williams (prompt) , Messrs G. Sorenson (lighting) and P. Nichol (house manager), and Miss A. Browning and Messrs G. Wilkinson and G. Nichol (stage assistants) .
