Buist is seeretary-treasurer of the Feilding Boy Scouts' Assoeiation. He became District Scout Commissionei foy Palmerston North in 1920 and Assistant Commissivjner for Wanganui in 1921. Since 1925 he has been honoYary seeretarv of the Feilding Assoeiation.^ He holds the New Zealand Lopg Service Medal with two bars and has yeuIereI outstandiug service to the Scout mavoment.
