SYDXLY, Xov. ti. A shark killed one boy and mauJed another as four brothers were swimmijig j in the Jlaria River at Foi'l klacquarie j yesterdav. It attacked twice in a few j seconds, slashing the leg of oue bov and J then severing the leg of another. Fdwin jJames Klford, aged 12, died almost in|stantlv, but Rupert EJford, aged l.'l, is I still alive. Ihe two elder brothers rushed to -assist the victims and dragged them both ashore. Tlie brothers were swiinming in front of their home 12 miles from the river mouth. • Rupert was attacked first and Rtrugglyd towards the shore with the flesh ripped from his knee. Then Edwin was dragged below the surface.
