Miss G. Black, of Invercargill, is spen'ding a holiday in Shannon as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. Wood, Venn Street. Mr. Butcher, who has been relieving at the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand, returned to resume his duties at Palmerston North on Tuesday evening. The many local. friends of Mr. Samuel Shedden, a former headmaster of the local scnool, will learn with regret that he passed away at his home in Carterton, on Thursday morning. He leaves a widow to mourn her loss. The funeral took place at Carterton today.
