OPEN ATHLETIC SPORTS

PLANNING FOR OTAKI CLUB'S FIXTURE Further progress has been made by the Otaki Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club with the arrangements for its open sports meetmg at the Otaki Domain on Saturday, January 10, and it promises to be an outstanding success. A considerable increase has been made in the prize money, which, with several valuable cups, should offer inducement to athletes from various parts of the North Island to compete. An energetic committee is-at work and no stone will be left- unturned to cater for competitors and the public alike. Among the cups offered are the Blakeway Cup, valued at £4 4s, Gilbert White Cup, valued at £6 6s. Whit Macleod Cup, value'd at £10 10s, and the Richards Cup, valued at £4 4s. Several new events have been added to last year's programme. Mr. R. McKeen, M.P., has been added to the list of vicepatrons. On the night of the sports a dance will be held at the Te Horo Hall.
