WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

IHAKARA'S MONTHLY MEETING There was a good attendance at the November meeting of the Ihakara Women's Institute. Mrs. Butt presided, welcoming all present, including one new member. Mrs. R. McLean read an interesting report of the half-yearly council meeting at Te Horo. The party lor members' children was discussed. Members were reminded of the exchange of Christmas gifts and rose competition at the December meeting. , The winners of the various competitions were: — Vegetable: Mrs. Haslock 1, Mrs. R. J. Rolston 2, Mrs-. Turner 3. Points: Mrs. G. Maclean 1, Mrs. Haslock 2, Mrs: Butt 3. Flower: Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Brooks 1 (equal), Mrs. Doyle 2, Mrs. Turner 3. Shrub: Mrs. Elliott 1, Mrs. R. J. Rolston 2, Mrs. Boddy 3. Social competitions : Mesdames Turner, Hudson and Bradfield. A bring-and-buy stall flourished under the guidance of Mesdames Bowker and Brookes. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Elliott, Doyle Cotter and Gardiner. _
