HASTINGS, Nov. 6. Criticism of a decision that butchers may not kill lambs under 301b weight, as a means of helping Britain, was expressed today by a pronunent butchcr, He claims the move will not assist Britain but that, on the other liand, it serves as an impediment to the local retail trade. The spokesman said that when the proposition was first advanced it seemed too silly to the men in the retail trade to eall for comment, • and it came as a surprise later to find the idea had been translated into law^ The public demand is tor iamos oi from 2Slb to 321b, but to safeguard themselves against the new 301b provision, the butchers find themselves eojnpellefl to buy heavy lambs. The result is' cnat customers are obliged to pay for a heavier leg or forequarter than they wish to buy and the butchers are faced j with complailits that the lamb is not : genuine lhilk-kimb.
