CRYPTIC WARNING TO BACON CURERS
GISBORNE, Nov. 6. The possibility of a reduction in their volume of business by the arbitrary action of - the Food and Rationing Controller has been brought to the attention of bacon curers and Bisborne retailers by a cryptic footnote to a eircular from the controller dealing with bacon quotas for Christmas. The note states: "Reports continue to be received that many curers' clients engage in extensive advertising of bacon and ham by window displays and Press advertisements. Such action is causing embarrassment to this office, and is viewed seriously Jby the controller. The continuation of this practice by any of your clients may jeopardise their quota with a resultant reflection on your civilian quota." • -
