U Saw spoke to the court in English for the first time when making his plea. The court president said that U Saw was liabl.e to the death penalty if convicted. The court granted a petition by U Saw's couhsel, Mr. B. R. Vertanns, for. an adjournment until November 27 pending the arrival of Mr. Derk Cutsh-Bennett, K.C., for whose services in U Saw's defence £2300 has been remitted to London. "
