WELLINGTON, Nov. 3. Wliile approving of the scheme for petrol restrictiou and pledging its full support toward making it a success, the council of Ihe Automobile Assoeiation (Wellington) deeided to seek assurances that the restrictiou of hours or sale which aecoinpanies it, will not be prolouged beyond tlie iieriod of emergency. The chairman, Mr. E. A. Batt, said it had lieen suggested that some might gei ; preferential Ireatnient and get more, than their share. In his opinion resellers would liandle the distrihution without fear or favour. Mr. E. Palliser, who, witli Mr. W. A. Sutherlainl, represeuted the North Island Motor L'nion at conferences witli the Aid to Britain National Council, said tlie system had been proposed from tlie outset but had been opposed by tlie resellers becauso they feared the weight it would throw on tliem. Motorists were being allotted 8,800,000 gallons monthiy and that should be quite suffic.ient. Jt was deeided to send a letter lo tlie OI1 Fuel Controller conveying tlie view of the council on the restrictiou of reselling hours.
