Received Mondav, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 2. Mr. Howard liughes lifted his giant 25,000,000-dollar flyingboat into tlie air for a fevv seconds today when he put the plane through its lirst taxi runs 011 Kos Angeles harbour. The 200-ton inamnioth rose gracefully above tlie choppy waters of the harbour and skimmed tlie waves for half a mile before easing into the sea again. A LTnited Press correspondent aboard tlie plane said: ''When it began to skip from vvave to wave there was a violent shaking in the cockpit. The piane twisted with eacli thud and an engineer in the stern said the centre ramp iooked like an earthquake as the deck rippled. " Mr. Hughes, who was at the controls throughout, said he was extremely satisiied and could have taken the plane higher had he wanted. The plane took off at 100 miles an hour — the highest speed in tests.
