His name is to be forwarded to the N.Z. Olympic Games Gonneil for consideration in the selection of the New Zealand Olympic Gfames te'am. The day's events proved a . triumph for the Nelson riders, G. Howse winning the 25-mile ;junior championship. This small club has the remarkable record this season of having the New Zealand and Nortli Island champion, T. It. Carter, the South Island champion, P. Parkes and the New Zoaland junior champion, G. Howse. The course of '204 rtiiles proved a particularly severe oue, Miramar hill being a severe test as well as the subsequelit decline and sharp turns. J. Hill (Auckland) and V. Martin (Ganterbury) did not start in the senior events, I). Lapwood (Auckland) was out with tyre trouble in the iirst lap, while Bowden (Canterbury) went out in the second lap. Parkes (Nelson) punctured and lost about a inile while later Hubber (Otago) and Elliott (Canterbury) erashed on Miramar hill. Hubber continued in the race but was well back. This roduced the maia bunch to eight riders, but after the fifth lap it was reduc^d to six. Carter, Mobberley (Palnierston North), Dutton (Wellington), Mills (Christchurch), Westbury (Wellington) and Coker (Auckland). V. Hiils (Auckland) and Hubber were well back, Mills punctured shorth afterward and Westbury and Cokei dropped back. in the 15th lap, Mobberley had the niisfortune to crash when riding exceptionally well. A motorist forced hini off the road and the suhsequent jarring loosened his chain. In the next lap, Carter brolce away from Dutton to seeure a deeisive lead and won comfortably. The placings were: — T. E. Carter (Nelson) 5hrs. 47min. 28sec. 1. lt. Dutton (Wellington) ohrs. 50miu 1-isec. 2. A. Mobberley (Palmerston Nortli) 5 hrs. 52min. 2Ssec. 0. L. V. Hills (Auckland) 4. A. Coker (Auckland) 5. II. Hubber (Otago) 6. The juniors did not show the sarac energy as the- seniors in taking laps, being content to leave it to about seven to do this. Ilow.se led to the top of the hill on each occasion and twiee made a breakaway, but hud no support. He. was third at the turn home and won in the sprint, covering the distance in the good time oi llir, lOmin. 59sec. The other placings were: J. Kobertson ( Auckland), 2, P. Wliite (Auckland) 3. W.
