ATHLETIC CLUB MEETS
; FIRST SPORTS ON WEDNESDAY j A meeting of the committee of I Ihe Otaki' Amateur Athletic and f Cycling Club was held on Thursday night. The president, Mr. F. ; Eclwards, occupied the chair and | there was a good attendance. j It was agreed that the first evening sports be held on Wednesday evening, commencing at 6.15, and that the track be put in good order, a working bee to be held on- : the ground at the weekend. It was ! stated that the Borough Council | would also carry out improvements i where necessary. ! A letter was received from headI quarters, asking for a donation Itowards food parcels for Britain, and it was decided to forward £1. Mr. J. Mudge's offer to provide shields for competition was received with thanks. It was decided to write to two factories in Otaki, asking that support be givcn the club and that the employees be asked to take part in the evening sports. Complimentary reference was made to the Otaki Band, and it was agreed to engage them for the sports meeting to be held in the New Year1
