Personal Mr. Harold Taylor, who has been on holiday in the Hawke's Bay distriet, returned to his home yesterday. Mr. H'oni Roach, who has been in uoopbal in Palmerston North., returned to his home at Otaki 011 Saturday' night, but on Wednesday night was re-admitted for the purpose of an operation. Rev. G. K. Moir, who some years ago was vicar of the Otaki Parochial distriet, is to be the preacher at the morning service next Sunday at Te Horo, and also at the cvening service at All Saints' Church. The death occurred on Thursday of Mr. Alfred Edward ("Paddy") Miles, of Boundary Road, Solway, at the age of 77 years. The late Mr. Miles, who was born in Southbrook had resided at Solway for many years and some years ago was in Otaki. Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Nicholas, of Wanganui, have been spending a week at Foxton Beach prior to taking up their residence at Otaki, where Mr. Nicholas has accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church. For some years Mr. Nicholas was minister in charge of the Foxton Presbyterian Church. In a letter to her relatives, Miss Rosaleen Hickmott, the young Wellington soprano, who has- been studying singing in England for several months, states that she met Mr. Inia Te Wiata at a musical qvening. given by Mr. Ziman, of New Zealand House. Everyone greatly enjoyed Inia's singing, being impressed with his fine voice. "Run" Of Whitebait There was a good run of whitebait in the Manawatu River at the top of the tide on Tuesday. One fisherman operating in the Whirokino Cut caught six tins, his haul netting him well over £30. Two Years' Hard Labour Two years' hard labour was ifnposed on John Charles Morris, labour er,- aged 49, in the Supreme Court, Wellington, on a charge of breaking, entering and theft. It was the sequel to the removal of a large quantity of stock from Mr. L. G. Lowry 's recently.
