WELLINGTON, This Day. Chief interest in the racing world tomorrow wiU he the New Zealand Trotting Cup, which will be the main attraction on the opening day of the Metropolitan Trotting Club's f our- day spring fixture. For Horowhenua racegoers there will be the Rangitikei meeting at Bulls. At this fixture there are several horses that showed promising form at Trentham engaged.
As soon as both Highland Fling and Nyallo SCott qualified for the N.Z. Trotting Cup there has been very little discussion on the prospects of the rest- of the field outside this bracketed pair. The field this year is not as classy as it has been in past years and with the withdrawal of that first-class trotter. Emulous, the ' bracketed pair will go out one of the shortest "priced favourites in the history of the Cup. Leo Berkett has certainly pne of the strongest pair to ever represent his stable in this premier ;trotting event. Both are first class trotters, but general opinion is that Highland Fling will see the distance out better than his stablemate, but Berkett thinks Nyallo Scott might possibly shade Highland Fling. It will certainly be a grand tussle between -the pair with •strong opposition from Integrity, another top class trotter, and Plunder Bar. Sakuntala disappointed at Otaki, but in the Rangitikei Cup tomorrow she is expected to make amends. The field is not strong, the best being Foxella, Ngatoki and the promoted hack Morotai. Betting at both meetings will be win and place. Prospects are:
