LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

"CURIOUS."

THE MAYORAL ELECTlON Sir, — Here are a few questions Mr. A. W. Parton may wish to answer at his next meeting or through your paper. (1) As apparently the Levin ratepayers' Insurance Company is to I be founded on the mutual principle, jare the ratepayer policy holders aware that they will be individually liable for all liabilities of the company. ' (2) Who will pay for a major fire disaster, such aS was suffAred this week in Pahiatua, if that disaster occurs within the first few years of the scheme? (3)' As the Government does not insure its own buildings, and as all who have had recent loans through the State Advances Corporation must insure in the State Fire Office, will it mean that State houses and all other Government properties and State insured houses jget drainage for nothing? j (4) How long will it be before 'Mr. Parton's insurance company Iwill have profits, after providing 'for taxatiori, that can be a'ppiied towards the cost of drainage for Levin? j (5) Having arrang'ed all financial imatters satisfactorily, where is the j effluent to be deposited? Yours ete.,

1 Levin, Oct. 30.
