From Stockfortli N shop, £22/10/- was taken together with a small amount of tobacco. Entry and exit was niadc by a fanlight over tlic door. At Browne's furnishing shop, a pad lock on the main door was forced and the door jennnied open. A safc under the counter in a side ofiice.was blown open. It eontained only about 30s in silver whieh was taken. The safe-blow-ing was apparently the work of an. expert. The eharge had been judged to a uicely to blow ofl" the locking uieehanisni inside with out daiuaging the eontents. To deaden the sound of the explosion, elaborate precautions were taken. "The best fancy cushions in the shop and good carpeting were use'd to build up the mullle, " said a member of the staff. At the Kiwi Meat Co. shop, a glaspanel in the t'ront door was sinashed. Entry was made between 2 a.in. and 3.10 a.m. 011 Sunday morniug. About £1 or 30s in coin and half a dozen bottles of beer were taken.
