DROP IN POPULARITY OF THE ATTLEE GOVERNMENT
Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 21. The latest Gallup poll published by the News Chronicle, conducted just before the Cabinet reshuffle, indicates that Mr. Attlee's popularity as Prime Minister had dropped 10 per cent. in t'wo months. Porty-six per cent. of those replying said they disapproved of Mr. Attlee as Preanier and 41 per cent. approved. This is the first time since the Gallup poll instituted regular two monthly checks on the Prime Minister 's popularity, that Mr. Attlee has received less than 50 per cent. of the votes. Asked whether they were dissatisfied or satisfied with the Government's record to dat'e, 54 per cent. said dissatisfied and 36 per cent. said satisfied. This shows a two per cent. drop in the Government's popularity in two months.
