AUCKLAND, Oct, 20. The first shipment of cattle and sheep to arrive in Auckland from Britain since the removal of the 23-year-oia embargo on direct importation, is carried by the New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-ship Haparangi which arrived tonight from Liverpool via Panama. The Haparangi has a record eonsignment of purebred stock from Britain and Jersey Island eonsisting of 23 rams, 29 ewes, four heifers, four bulls, a cow and a colt. The first shipment direct to the Dominion reeently reached Wellington. Two breeds new to the Dominion figure in the shipment. The first is a pioneer eonsignment of Belted Galloway cattle from Seotland for Alr. Ian R. Donald, of Alloa-, Featherston. This is one of the hardiest and most famous of all the beef breeds of Great Britain and the shipment of a bull and three heifers in ealf will be followed by otliers. The second introduetion is that of Dorset Down sheep — a stud ram and 10 selected ewes from six of the leading flocks for Alr. Douglas Henderson, of Otapiri, .Southland. The Haparangi also carries a recorn shipment of Cheviot sheep for Alessrs A. Bryant (Waikanae), R. Afexted (Levin), A. Akers (Palmerston North), and Andrew Grant (Fairlie). A ram and 19 ewes of this breed will found a new flock in the Wairarapa for Alessrs T. and AT. Hurae, of Pirinoa. A number prize winning Southdown rams have been imported for Alessrs S. AleBeth (Feilding), A. Kirkpatrick (Gisborne), C. E. Edgecumbe (Waipukurau), R. Field (Sandon), G. and K. Allen (Alasterton), J. G. and I. R. Donald (Featherston), J. Ridd (Ashhurst) and F. R. and B. A. Robertson (Greytown). Border Leicester rams from Sco'tland are carried for Alessrs - D. Grant (Timaru) and T. Lockheed (Balclutha). A Romney ram sired in England by a Romney sire sent from New Zealatid has been imported for Alr. R. W. Alatthews, Waiorongomai, Featherston.
