Cottpott Saviiig Meat coupons to the value of £219 have been handed in to the Levin Post Office during the past twelve months in respon^e to the Government's appeal to citizens to save their coupons. Leyin Exceeds Quota The Levin Pokt Office has sold health stamps to the value of £2'80 sihce the campaign opened. This figure is £14 over the district's quota for the campaign. Ration Books Stdleu The Toko Post office was broken into and 286 new ration books were stolen, states a Press Association message from New Plymouth. Gannets Late The gannets at the Cape Kidnappers sanctuary are nesting later this season than they have been before. This is the opinion of Mr. D. G. Previously a 1501b. case was sent to the Paeific Islands. Supplies of edible fat have also been despatched to England. New Ration Books With a greater number of coun- ! try visitors in town yesterday, the [ issuing of ration books showed a i marked increase. Altogether 672 were issued for the day. Stay-at-Home Doctors j The withholding of Social Security payments from doetors who re- j fused to attend to patients at their own homes was requested in a notice of question put by Mr. T. E. Skinner (L., Tamaki) in the House of Representatives yesterday. He added that it had been reported to him that certain medical practitioners refused to attend their patients unless they visited the surgery in the doctor's hours. Alleged Libel Action Deoember 10 has been fixed as the date for the hearing of the £1000 damages claim by Mr. Randolph Spencer Churchill against New Zealand Labour Newspapers, Ltd., the pfoprietors of the Southern Cross, for alleged libel in a leading article in the Southern Cross, dated October 1, and headed "Randolph On Show." At the making of the fixture Mb. L. G. Rose appeared for Mr. Churchill and Mr. T. P. Cleary for Labour Newspapers, Ltd.
