WELLINGTON," Oct. 10. Striking a reef rock off Ohau, near Makara, in a fog this afternoon, the Islaud Bav fishing lauucli Diaz sank alniost immediately. The four mcn aboard got safely ashore. After rowing part of the way they were assisted 0)' two launches which put out from Makara. They were Rafaele MuoJio, master of the launch, Cataldo Muollo, .Toe Mollo and Salvatore Rucco, all fishermen of Island Bav. Joe -Mollo is suffering bruising to his back otherwise the members of the partv were little the worse for their experience. The launch struck the rock in dense fog. Fortu'nately the sea was cairn with little s well. As soon as the news ot the sinking reached Island Bav, a partv including Constable Bowley, was assembled to set out bv launch for Makara to render any assistance possible. The partv had not returned at a late hour tonight. Information reaching the fishing cohimunity at Island Bav was that Joe Mollo was returning by car from Makara but the other three of the crew were remaining to attempt salvage, A sergeant and a partv ot policet was dispatched "rom Wellington by car as soon as the police were notified but they returned as soon as it was known the crew of the launch was safe.
