The review was lield with the ,1'tjjeet of makino a 10 per cent. saving in petrol. | "No trips of more than 50 miles will) be allowed without tlfe previous consent of Ihe Licensing Authority, " said Mr. Phelan. "This new sclieme is to take elfect from November 1 of tliis vear. Ilowever, it will not be necessary to pay a l'ee for a temporary lieeuee to travel more than 50 miles. This means that the issue of sueh lieences will be speeded up and tiresoine delav avoided. ' ' Tliere will have to be • a consideralde reduetion iu the number of. sports trips," said Mr. Phelan. "A reduetion in raee trips will also be necessary. " Tliere was the possibility, he said, that if buses for this type of work were cut out entirely, it would mean that tliere would be an increase in the number of cars on the roads.
