DESPERATE FIGHT TO STEM CHOLERA PLAGUE

Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 8. The entire eastern part of the Nile delta, where 3,000,000 people live, has been isolated from Egypt and the rest of the world because of the outbreak of cholera. The American Army and Navy exhansted their reserves of vaccine in the past week and it is stated that, it is doubtful whether America has resources to meet Cairo's appgal for a further 1,000,000 units to help stem the plague. Military aircraft are spraying Cairo with D.D.T. to kill cholera carrying flies, and aircraft from Denmark, France, Switzerland and South Africa ' are flying vaccine but the disease is still spreading. The Palestine Government has ordered an anti-cholera barrier, closing hundreds of square miles of desert near the Egyptian frontier, to all traffic except military police and health department vehicles. Britain has already sent vaccine to Egypt and Russia has agreed to send 1,000,000 doses.
