A stricter control of cyclists and pedestriaus and testing stations at which all vehicl.es over six mouths old would have to report periodically, -are among recommendations in the report of the committee on roacl safety. It suggested that pedestrians failing to obey traftie lights or the signals oi' policeman regulating traffic, should be liable to prosecution. The police should have power to stop ,a pedal cyc.list on the roads similar to the power they now have to stop drivers of motor vehicles. The report is the result of three years' work by tlie committee and is described by Alr. G. .R". Strauss, Paiiiamentary Secretary to the Alinistry of Transport, as ' ' the bible of road safety ptopagandists." He added that it , could be taken for granted that many of its proposals would be adopted by the Government.
