GANGSTER ORGANISATION IN JAPAN
Received Tuesdav, 10.10 p.m. TOKTO, Oct. 7. The existeuce of a kuromaku (black eurtain) in Japan behind which groups of gangsters, blaclcmarketeers, exs oi diers and politicians menaccd the demoeratic eonstitution, was revealed today by a spokesman at General MaeArthur's headquarters. He said lie would nnike no attempt to guess tlie streagth of tlie kuromaku but said it alleged its influeaee extended to ali politiwal parties from which the major souree of their income was deprived. Oue Diet member had claimed that 500,0(10, 000, 000 yen was involved in hoarded food alone. The kuromaku derived its ineome from the disposal of hoarded goods on the blaekmarket' in which at least 345 "gangster orgamsations were involved.
