Except for the passing -in of an odd line or tvvo of inferior wool, the offering» of the new season's product at the Napier crutching sale today encountered a complete elearanee.- The sale concluded on- the same strong note niarking tlie opening in tlie morning, a keen demand being shown thfoughout for fleece avooIs comprising a ''bought, in" section of'some 3150 bales in a oatalogue oi\ over 15,000. Within the trade the prices were said to be the best paid to date in the eurrent series of saies, erutehings being up to 23id for good length sorts, and eoarse types running that value elosely. Wool shorn in the 1943-44 season clianged liands among the stock pile oft'ering, at rates comparing favourably with the closing scale last season. Competition waS well spread for the acquisition of fleeces but was more liiiiited in tlie offering of erutehings. #The offieial report issued by the Associated Brokers, said: "In a good selection of erutehings offered at the first sale of the season, a notieeable feature was- the absence of seed and burr. Competition was very keen for good length erutehings but rather erratic for short wools. Hogget and lambs' erutehings did not eommand the samc competition as eoarser .wools. Inferior and seedy erutehings were not keenly sought after and the .loint Organisation bought oceasional lots of inlenor Lines. ' ' Offieial range of prices: — Three-quarter-bred or fine crossbred: Good to super, 18d to 20; average, l(id to 17Jd; inferior, 12d to 15d; seedy, Od. to 9d. Crossbred: Extra super to 24Id; good suoer, 20d to 23d: average, 18d to I9d; inferior, lld to I5d; seedy, Old to 9d.
