BOWLING CLUBS READY

SEASON OPENS ON SATURDAY Both the Levin a'nd Centrai Bowling Clubs will officially open their seasons on Saturday next. The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, will officiate at both ceremonies, attending at Central's green at 1.30 p.m. and Levin's at 2 p.m. The Centrai Club anticipates an exceptionally good season. Extensive work has been carried out on the green dfiring the recess period. With an appreciable increase in membership, bowling conditions and. sociability promise to be of a high order. Due to the excellent work of the green superintendents, Messrs. H. Nicholson and H. Wenham, the Levin Club's green is in first ciass order and the surroundings "present an attarctive appearance. The club has a full membership — the limit of 120. At a meeting of the club's committee last night appreciation. was recorded of the work done during the recess by green superintendents and by Messrs H\ S. Powell, B. Laurie, H. Walker and F. Burnham. It was also agreed that nominations for the cham-r pionships, singles, pairs and rinks, close on November 1. Centrai Club members selected to represent the club at other opening ceremonies on Saturday are as follows: — At Northern (Palmerston North) : w. Dalzell, E. Lycette, W. Braid, F. E. Langelan (s). Levin Club: H. Finlayson, E. Pine, R. T. Martin, W. Sharp (s) . Levin Ladies' Club: E. Collis, B. P. Mitchell, C, Walker, A. W. Parton (s) ; and H. Langtry, J. Capstick, H. Harvey, P. E. Wingfield (s) . Any members unable to participate in these games are asked to notify the secretary immediately so that substitutes can be arranged. The Levin Club will be represente'd at Central's opening by Hines, McCarthy, Mackay, Larsen (s). Indoor bowling will conclude -its season on Thursday next. ■
