Fights Between Australians And Indians In Japan

Received Mondav, 10.45 a.m. BRISBANE, Oct. 6. Occupation troops who ret'^rPed from Japan said that zNhstralian and Indian soldiers nad fought against one another near Hiroshima. The Australians claimed that in the fighting three Indians were killed and one injured. No Australians were injured. A big rift developed between the Indian and British forces after India was granted her independence on August 15, said one Australian. The Indians bec-ame cheeky and arrogant towards the British forces. About two months ago groups of Indians molested an engineer guard at Hiroshima and gathered outside the camp gates. Determined to disperse them, the Australian engineer fired a rifle shot into the air. The Indians took to the hills nearby and fired down on the Australians. Ordey was not restored till three Indians were killed and one wounded. Other clashes between Australians and Indians occurred at a place 25 miles from Hiroshima.
