AUSTRIA OPPOSED TO SOVIET POLICIES

A series of reniarkalily outspokeu, speeclies by Austrian Ylinisters, notably by the Eoreign Alinister, Dr. Oruber, during the past fevv days, has placed the Austrian Governmenr scpiarely on record as being opposed to the polieies of the Koviet Union, says the Daily Telegraph' Yienna corre.spondent who points out that these pronouncements have conie at a time of growing Comnnmist agitation withiu Austria. The public is overwhelmingly anti-Coiiimunist, the correspondeiit says, but there are fears that Austria, with Coiiiniunist-dominated Ktates on three siiles, is about to become a target for mounting Koviet pressure. Dr. Gruber, who is at present 011 a tour of Tyro], declared in one speech that an attempt was being made to foive Austria into a politieal comliination whieh would cut her off completely froni the west. In another he attacked Russia 's stiind 011 the problem of (Tf,x,,man assets in Austria and deplored her exploitation of Austrian oil resou rces. Austria did not intend to come under any doniination either from east or west, he added.
