READY COMPETITION AT WEEKLY STOCK SALE
There' was an average yarding of fat sheep penned at the Levin sale yesterday with values for well finished wethers increased on last Week's rates, Fat ewes remained steady "while " .hoggets showed a marked lift. One pen of extra prime black faced hoggets made to 48s lOd, while a truck 'of white, faced hoggets made to 45s lOd. Some heavy spring lambs were yarded, one pen of fo'ur making to 42s lOd. ' The fat pig section was lighter. Prime porkers met with reaay corfipetition from butchers, while any lighter or unfinished sorts* were keenly sought by local fatteners. The store pig yarding was well represented and met with a keen demand. An extra smalh yarding of dairy and store cattle came for-. Ward and dairies close to profit made fair values. A smaller yarding than usual of fat cattle was penned, a pen of oxen requiring finishing making to £18 17s 6d while prime cows made to £17 12s 6d. Prime P.A. runners made to £11 7s 6d and fat ex-dairy cows met with keen competition, selling to £11 17s 6d. The following is the range of prices realised: — Sheep: Extra prime wethers, 53s 7d; prime wethers, 49s ld to 52s 7d; medium do., 47s -7d to 48s lOd; light and unfinished do., to 43s lOd; extra prime ewes, 38s lOd to 39s lQd; medium ewes, 35s lOd to 37s 7d'; small black-faces, 42s 6d to 45s 3d; extra prime hoggets, 45s lOd to 48s lOd; prime do., 40s lOd to 43s lOd; light, down to 35s lOd; heavy spring lambs, 42s lOd; medium do., down to 36s lOd.
Cattle: Medium oxen, £18 17s 6d; heavy P.A.'cows, £15 17s 6d to £17 12s 6d; medium do., £14 17s 6d to £15 12$. 6d; light do., £13 7s 6d to £14 7s 6d; P.A. runners, £9 7s 6d to £11 7s 6d; prime ex-dairy cows, £10 12s 6d to £14 7s 6d; medium, £8 12s 6d to £9 17s 6d; light, down to £6 2s 6d; boners and potters, at late market rates; good heifers close to profit, £10 10s to £14 15s; smaller types, £9 5s to £9 15s; cows close to profit, £10 10s to £12; yearling dairy bulls, £8 10s to £9 1,5s; three yearold Jersey bulls, £9 to £10 5s. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £7 10s; light do., £5 13s tq £6 10s; heavy porkers, £5 to £5 10s; light do., down to £4 ls; choppers, £6 to -£7 15s ; sows to farrow, £9 to £9 10s; heavy stores, £3 15s to £4 12s; medium do., £3 to £3 13s; weaners, £1 15s to £2 2s 6d; one sow 'and litter of 10 in good condition, £15 5s. ~
