Yesterday, in response to a request from His Excellency thes Governor-General, all churches. in Levin observed the national day of prayer for the welfare of the nation in the present crisis. In his official capacity, the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burfiekin,' accompanied by Mrs. Burdekin, attended the evening service at St. Mary's Anglican Church,
