SYD.NEY, Sept. 28. Allegations tlvat the Eederal Government is being robbed of liuge sums bceause of irregularities at armj'' dispo'sals saies, will be investigated soon at an inquiry to' be ordered by Ma1. Ghifley. The inquiry may.be preliminary to a full-scale pulfiic commission if enoug'h evidence is forthcoming. From September, 1944, until June 30 of this year, the Disposals Commission. has sold goods for a return of £111,000.000. The value of the goods cannot be estimated but a large proportion has been sold at low fignres. It is alleged that the operation of rings has kept the bidding down, A request for an investigation was made by Mr, Howard, Beaie, Liberal niember of the House of Representatives, who claims that he has evidence of the formation of buyers' rings which operate with .threats of violence.
