SHANNON BADMINTON BALL

One of the most looked forward to social functions- in this district is the Shannon Badminton Club's annual ball. Last year the club recaptured. the social crown - with its first post-war ball after being in recess- during the war years. This season it has every intention of upholding its position with the second post-war ball, which is to be held in the Druids' Hall, next Monday, September 22. An enterprising committee has arrangements well in hand and everything points to a -sweeping succ.ess. The music is being provided by Mr. Billy Larkin, who will be bringing a band of six members. The ladies of the committee have the supper -arrangements under way, and the dancing public can be assured'of an enjoyable time. As in past years, the club is going to no end of trouble in transforming tlie hall into a place of beauty— novel decoratons — far eclipsing anything yet seen in the Druids' Hall are beginning to take shape. Coloured lighting will make the hall a fairyland and novelties, such as ' paper hats, confetti, streamers, balloons, etc., will add to the fun. Visitors from all parts of the district and from as far north as Wanganui and south to Wellington have signified their intention of being present. Tickets are on sale and may be obtain ed from any club ■ member, or from Mr. A. S. Hyde, the secretary of the club. — Advt.
