CHINESE FINED £125 ON OPIUM CHARGE
WELLINGTON, Sept. 15. Ye Yot, aged 40, a Chinese carpenter op the ship Norbada, pleaded guilty today before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to a charge of importing opium into New Zealand. It was stated that yesterday afternoon abput 6 lbs of prepared opium was found on him after he had come off the ship. As requested by a Customs Department offlcial, the magistrate imposed the maximum fine of £125, immediate payment being ordered.
