IMPROVED TRAIN SERVICES

DEPUTATION TO GENERAL MANAGER A deputation headed by the Otaki-Te Horo branch of the Federated Farmers and supported by other organisations visited Wellington yesterday to ask the general manager of railways for an improved train service from Paekakariki to Wellington by making a non-stop run for Field's express. At present it takes two hours to travel the 46 miles. It is considered that the country people should have an improved service, it being maintained that suburban passengers are already well catered for. If a satisf actory reply is not forthcoming a deputation will wait on the Minister of Railways. Another request will be that stock trucks be made available from lower Horowhenua to Levin by the early train so that stock may be conveyed to Levin saies.
