If salvation primarily depended on "works" no man could be saved: for "all have sinrfed, and the wages of sin is death."- Salvation, to be possible at all, has to be "by grace," by favour. This favour takes the form of forgivehess of sins, by which a man becfomfes -'justifi'ed in the sight of God, and an heir of life eternal. But forgiVeness is on conditions. ; The ' preaching of the Gospel is a proclamation of the conditions, which not only determine the question of .forgiveness or no forgiveness, but they also effect the questions of how high in glory those who are forgiven will rise, for there are degrees of attainment in Christ: and it is here where the element of "account" and "works" comes in to determine a man's position. The man who in this connection exclaims "Not of works" does not "rightly divide the word of truth," but wrests it to his own destruction. These truths are plainly indicated by reference to Matt. 16; 27, Rev. 22: 12, 1 Cor. 3; 18, 2 Cor. 9; 5, Luke 19; 17, 19. Free literature on "Bible Truth" gladly sent to any interested from: — H. W. Christie, McDonald Road, Levin. MAN QUESTIONS, GOD ANSWERS Is Salvation a present possession, or a future reward? John 5. 24. He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath (as a present possession) everlasting life, (now note the negative side) and shall not come into condemnation: (now note the positive side) but is passed from death unto life. John 3. 18. He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten S011 of God. Reader, the above Scriptures prove conclusively, that the believer is saved now, and the unbeliever is condemned already.
