The conditions for track wotk were ideal at Awapuni yesterday morning and horses racing at Wanganui and Carterton were given their final trials only 28 feet out from the rails on the course proper. f Tremello, with his Carterton Cup rider, S. Broughton) worked smoothly over six iu 1.26, the pace being even throughout. Mataweue (Clutterbuck) worked evenly over a mile at bettei; than 15 to the furlong. Voltaic (D. Amev) rau the last gix of seven in 1.26, and Tribute (Harris) did similar work. hegendre (A. Bowness) was kept to e-ven tihie over a round and Fairhome, working once u-ound, was timed home from the three in 42. Thimbie (Broughton) easilv covered the last six of a mile in 1.27. Czarina was just in front of Vernon at the end of a mile run iu 1.56 2-5. Playtos' (Broughton) was clear of Commercial (Aitken) at the end o'f a'
mile run in 1.55. The pace was easy to the three, from which mark Playtos was home in 42 3-5.
