DISAPPOINTED AT WAGE INCREASE
WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. The New Zealand Labourers' Eedera tion had expressed its keenesr disappointment at the wage iuerease granted by the Court of Arbitratiou under the recent application, stated Mr. H. Kay, national secretary, today. Parr of the judgment, in the Eederation 's opinion, he said, clearly indicated that the stabilisation regulations eould not be used to stabilise the proflts of in dustry and that applications for wag'.increases were very restrictive in seope. "We are of the opinion," Mr. Kay added, "that the stabilisation regu-la-lations should be so amended as to allotv workers to make application to the Court of Arbitration for a greater share in the national dividend. As the means of furtlier increasing the purehasing power of workers, we call upon tlie Government to furtlier strengthen the personne] of the Price Tribunal and: also to extend the functions of the tribunal to cover more efficiently the eontrol of priees of luxury goods as well as essential goods. "
