SHORTAGE OF TWINE FOR COMING SEASON
The possibility of the rationing of twine for the comi'ng season was announced at a meeting of the Manawatu Provincial Executive of Pederated Parmers yesterday when a remit was received from the Levin braach asking tlie executive to investigate the position. The Levin branch delegate, Mr. C. C. Webb, said that circulars were being distributed by merchants enquiring for season 's requirements as there was likely to be a shortage. He coiitended that one of the reasons for the shortage was that more could be made from a ton of fibre w.hen it was made into household goods than could be made when it was manufactuxed in to twine. It had been announced that twine was to be severely rationed, said Mr. J. C. Rcott. Stationary presses wouid not be supplied but the awine would be rationed to pick-up presses only. If it was to be rationed, it should be rationed fairly, he said. The merchantsi stated on their circulars that they would supply stationary presses only. After further discussion the matter was left in the hands of the chairman, Mr. II. J. McLeavey, to bring before the Dominion Couneil.
