Repairs to Gorge Road

Parts of the Manawata Gorge road where the surface is broken and rough are at present being remetalled and graded. A gang of men is chipping material from the hillside above- the road' on the site ' of an earlier slip. The gash in the hillside extends to a height of some hundred feet. It is not expected that the road will be closed to traffic during the operations.
