OTAKI FOOTBALLERS VISIT PORIRUA
Two ' very ipteresting football matches were played at Porirua on Saturday between players from Otaki and Porirua. The games were well-fought out and'greatly enjoyed, both by players and the large number of spectators. In the match between Rahui and Porirua thirds there was spectacular and excitrng play, and after a keen struggle the Porirua1 team emerged victorious by the narrow margin of six points to three. For Rahui L. Merwood played an outstanding game, while others who played well were A. Winterburn, G. Julius, R. Giddens, J. Ahern ahd K. Wilton. Although Rahui were outweighted, the whole fifteen played remarkable football, giving a bright and pleasing display. After the game the visitors were entertained, when a most enjoyable time was spent. The president of the Porirua Club, Mr. Stett, and coach, Mr. Wineera, extended a hearty welcome, and stated how pleased they were that Otaki had made the trip. A return game was hoped for. Mr. C. Rodgers (manager) and Mr. C. Pussell (coach) suitably responded, thanking all for the pleasant time spent and assuring the Porirua Club that. games next season would be eagerly looked forward to. The Otaki fourth grade match with Porirua was also a very interesting one, and good play was witnessed. This game ended in favour of Porirua bv 12 points to 3, Bugi scoring a try for the visitors. The game was fast and open. At the conclusion of the game, Mr. Eric Cook returned thanks for the hospitality extended to the Otaki team.
