Annual Report "The season recorded a move in the strength of the club upon the entry of a 'B' grade team. Aithough it was hoped that the Horowhenua Cricket Association would form a junior competition, this was not fulfilled owing to lack of entries and the wickets available in the various centres. The 'B' team therefore had no option but to play in the senior competition, and it is to their credit the performances this team put up against older and more experienced -sides, and the congratulations go to the members of this team who carried on each week despite many losses. The 'A' team had a fairly successful season and finished in a handy position in the competition, and the club's congratulations go to the Weraroa team who were successful in the senior competition. The 'A' team had as good a side as any playmg in the competition, but the inexplicable lapses at times lost them vital matches. However, the harmony of the team was not impaired and an enjoyable season
was had by all. j "Representative honours: — Con- , gratulations go to the following , club players who represented Horo- ] whenua in representative matches during the season: Messrs. I. "Valedictory : The club has to place on record the loss of the services of a most enthusiastic member and capable secretary in the person of Mr. J. B. Garrity who has transferred to Wanganui. He was a well-known personality on and off the cricket field throughout Horowhenua and will be missed by all members. "Smoke concert: A smoke concert was held during the off season and. a pleasant evening was had by those present aithough the representation from the club was not encouraging.
