PALMERSTONIAN'S PETITION TO PARLIAMENT
WELLINGTON, Scpt. 3. A recommendatioy trom the defence committee on a petition from Mr. G. J. Pranklvn, 39 Bourke Street, Palmerston North, was reported to the House oi Representatives today by its cliairman. Mr. R. M. Macfarlane (Christchurch Ceutral). Pctitioner prayed for coin pensatiou for injury sustaiued duiing service in the arnied forces. The com mittee recominended that it be referred to the Government for considoration. The Member who presented the petition, Mr. G. H. Ormond Milson (Palmerston North) said that when petitioner cntered the array tlie sight was gone in one eye. As the result of army service the eye had to be removed and he had been given no eompensation. He lioped some wav wour! be found to make souie reparation to him. Petitioner had entered the armv fgrade II and had been discharged grade III. A member of the defence comuiittee, Mr. T. L. Macdonald (Wallace) said this was one of the borderline cases which gave the committee some difliculty.
