Personal Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Robertson, who have been on a. visit to Te Awamutu, returned to Otaki yesterday. Mrs. F. H. Smith, daughter of Mrs. W. Burns Smith, of Otaki, and her son, Clement, have arrived in England, a cablegram having been received to this effect. Mrs. Rikihana, who has been in hospital in Wellington, has returned to her home at Otaki, benefited by the treatment received. The Rev. and Mrs. A. Ashwin and family, who have been residents of Otaki for some time, have left to take up their residenee at Fitzroy. They carry with them the best wishes of many friends. Mrs. George Brown, who has been on a visit to Tauranga and other places of interest, has returned to her home at Waikanae. Mrs. Brown's sojourn pyoved a most enjoyable one, she having had fine weather throughout. The death took place at Wellington on Sunday of Mr. "Dad" Kingan, aged 75 years. The deceased, who was in the emergency hospital at Otaki for some time, was well-known locally. In his young days "Dad" was a jockey of standing. The funeral took place at Wellington on Tuesday. The death . occurred yesterday in the Palmerston North Hospital, at the age of 57 years, of Mr. Adolphus Swensson, a well-known and highly respected resident of Otaki. The deceased, who had not been in robust health for some time, had an attack of pneumonia to which he succumbed. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved widow and daughter ( Joan) . Parcels Mishandled A letter from England, in thanking Otaki residents for a food pareel, states, as usual, the label containing the stamps had been torn off and the parcel itself showed signs of rough usage, despite the fact that it was wrapped securely in strong linen and weil sewn. The leUer says the parcel 's contents had been burst open, and adds that complaints lead ndwhere.
