AUCKLAND, August 27. Three woi'kmen received bums when a 45-gallon drum of benzole caught fire in the factory of Bostar (Auckland) i Ltd., Hill Btreet, Onehunga, this afterj noon. ilr. Leslie Allen Bull, -aged 30, of Grey Lynn. was admitted to the Ctrcen Lan'e ilospital suffering from burns to the arms and face, and two otliers, Mr. Derrick Alfred Knight, aged 27, and Mr. Kobert James Ross, aged 27, were trekted for burns to the hands and face at the casualty departnient of the hospi'tal and discharged. The three men were working uear the benzole when it burst into flame. The single-storey building quickly filled® with smoke afiid i\fr. Knight and Mr. Ross rushed out of the main door only a few f'eet away and collapsed in the vard. AltliougMi there was a large quantity of liiglily iuflauimable material in the building, Mr. Bull remained behiiul and attempted to figlit the flames with a cliemical extinguisher. He was severely burned and had to rush outside a few minutes later. iHeanwhilc the manager, M r. A. E. Knight, father 1 of Mr. D. A. Knight, who was in his otlice at the end of the building, had telephoned the fire station. The fire was quickly ex( inguished with chemicals before it had spread to other i materials in the fac-tory. Only a few feet of Ihe wooden frainework of oue wall wero burnt. The three injured men who, with the manager, are joint owners of the business, were- takeu to hospital by ^mbulnnco.
