NO CROP SUBSIDY NEXT YEAR
The Government has decided not to contihue the pig crop subsidy schenre for 1948. This information from the Primary Industries Controller (Mr. R. B. Tennent) was officially received today by the Wellington' District Pig Council. Mr. Tennent said that the decision was in keeping with the Government 's palicy of eliminaffng farm subsidies as far as was pra . ciealileT The Department of Agriculture has also advised that a cotnpensat/ng incrcase in the price of pig-meats Wou,d probably be-niade, and the Pig Council was aslced to impress upon farmcrs 'he necessity for maintaining pig production and producing as muc.i Winter food for pigs as possible, as impoPed fee'ding stuffs would not be available ib hhy gi-eat quantity next winter.
