• > Received Sundav, 7.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 23. Kramer and Schroeder won the national doubles championship at Brookline (Massachusetts) today, defeating Talbert and Sidwell 6 — 4, 7 — o. 6 — 3. In the women 's doubles finai Louise Brough aiul Margaret Osborne defeated Doris Hart and Mrs. Patricia Todd 5—7, 6—3, 7—5. The New York Times says the game Kramer and -Schroeder played was not up to their best standard. They showed weakness in returning services that wiL have to be remedied before they meet the Australian Davis Cup teain. Talbert and Sidwell, after playing their most brilliant tennis of the week, lost their keenness and touch. Sidwell was badly off in his volleving and his whole game was not at its best. He was not returning his services well or serving as well as he had in earlier matehes and he missed numerous opportunities at the net. The victors dominated play from start to finish, settling whatever doubts existed about the arrangement of the American Davis Cup team. The Associated Press comments tJiai it will not be surprising if Kramer and Schroeder are not only given all the singles assignments in the Davis • Cup but also the vital doubles match.
