WELLINGTON, AugllSt 2Z. The American film industry in New Zeaiand will he hard hii if, as ®x" pected, the recommendations to tne Government hy the Aid to Britain conf erence are implemented. At today's final session the iollowing reconmiendation, put for ward hy the production and trade committee, was adopted: "That dollar savings m respect of films from hard curreney areas he achieved as follow: (a) Increase tlie fllxn Mx'6 tax from 25 j per cent.. to 40- -per cent. (h) Kemittances to hard currency countries to he limited to an amount not exceeding £30,000 (New Zeaiand cnrrency) in any one year, the halance due to he held' in New Zeaiand currency as a "frozen halance. Mr. A. E. Gihhons (New Zeaiand Red Cross Society) asked if this tax applied to British films as well. , The chairman (Mr. F. P. Walsh): No, only to films from the hard currency areas. J"
